Until the End of Time

In February 1996, Tupac recorded the verses at Death Row. Five years later, Johnny “J” and New York production team Trackmasters built the beat around an eighties pop hit: Broken Wings by Mr. Mister. In 2001, Until the End of Time launched the rollout for the double album of the same name, and the single became a major success in Europe.

Life in Constant Danger and a Promise to Friends

Tupac raps about a life in constant danger and the question of how long one can keep going like that. The title sounds like a promise to his friends to stand together until the end.

R.L. of the R&B group Next sings the chorus, which is modeled on Broken Wings. For a second version, the “RP Remix,” Mr. Mister frontman Richard Page contributed vocals and instrumentation himself.

Archival Footage and Studio Shots Instead of a Narrative Storyline

The video dispenses with a narrative storyline. It features excerpts from an interview Tupac gave after his 1994-95 trial, previously unreleased footage from the studio, and scenes from older videos such as All About U.

The Enhanced CD for Europe and Australia

The enhanced CD maxi (497 554-2) was released in Europe and Australia and contains the video as a CD-ROM section.

A British edition with a different tracklist is listed under Until the End of Time (UK). The date often given (June 11, 2001) aligns with the UK chart entry in June 2001. In the US, the single had already been on the radio since February.
