Background · Dear Mama (CD 2, 1999)
Two CDs, the same principle: Just like CD 1, the second part of the 1999 reissue frames a song from the estate. It opens with the radio version of Dear Mama and closes with the Moe Z. mix. In between stands I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto in the “Soulpower Hip Hop Album Mix” version.
The 1993 B-Side Becomes a Posthumous Single
I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto has a long backstory. As early as 1993, the original version “I Wonda If Heaven's Got a Ghetto” appeared as the B-side on the single Keep Ya Head Up. For R U Still Down?, Soulshock & Karlin reproduced the song in 1997 and released it as the album's first single. The hip-hop version included here is the second version on the album, featuring vocals by Maxee.
Four Tracks on One Maxi Instead of Two CDs
In some countries, instead of two CDs, a single four-track maxi was released that combined both bonus additions. Discogs documents this, for example, for a European Jive release and a 1999 Israeli licensed edition with all four tracks: Radio Version, Do for Love, I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto, and Moe Z. mix.
The European CD Maxi Features Three Tracks
