Background · Dear Mama (Remix)
Three remixes for clubs and DJs, but no album original: In 1995, Interscope released a maxi-single in Germany that leaves out the original version of Dear Mama entirely and bundles three alternative versions instead.
Censored for the Radio, Mixed for the Club
The “Baby Mama Mix” appears as an “Extra Clean Version”, in other words, an even more heavily censored radio version. Alongside it are a second mix, which Discogs lists as the “Big Mama Mix,” and the “Black Queen Club Mix.” The latter's name plays on a line in which Tupac calls his mother a Black queen despite everything.
Closing out the release is Bury Me a G, the opening track of Thug Life: Volume 1. The track had previously appeared on the US maxi-single of Dear Mama.
The Tracklist: “Big Mama” Instead of “Baby Mama”
The tracklist matches the German CD maxi. However, the second track is sometimes given as “Baby Mama Mix”; on the CD itself, it is titled “Big Mama Mix”.
