Background · Temptations
When the single was released in late summer 1995, Tupac was in prison. Friends and colleagues therefore stepped in front of the camera to fill in for him. On Me Against the World, Temptations is the lightest track, and the one with the most unusual video story.
Infidelity Over Zapp's Bassline
At the center is infidelity: Tupac raps about temptations he cannot resist, and about the consequences for a relationship. Producer Easy Mo Bee backed the song with the bassline from Computer Love by the band Zapp. He gave the track a smooth, almost romantic sound that many critics highlighted.
Prominent Support at the Hotel Alexandria
Director David Nelson shot the video at the Hotel Alexandria in Los Angeles. Coolio guides viewers through the story as a bellhop, while Ice-T plays the concierge.
Added to this are cameo appearances by, among others, Jada Pinkett, Isaac Hayes, Salt and DJ Spinderella from Salt-N-Pepa, B-Real, Shock G, Treach, Warren G, Yo-Yo, Jasmine Guy, Bill Bellamy, and Taye Diggs. The producer described the shoot as a big party where everyone wanted to show their support for Tupac.

This edition is the US maxi single (CD 95724-2, also on cassette). The frequently given date of April 29, 1995 was four months too early.
Both remixes were contributed by California producer Battlecat.
