Background · Runnin' ('98 Remixes)
Three years after its initial release, the joint song by 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. landed in European clubs. In 1998, the British label MBA/Blakjam had Swedish DJ and producer StoneBridge remix Runnin' and released the versions in Europe.
A Danceable Beat for Europe's Clubs
Following the deaths of both rappers, demand for their joint song grew. StoneBridge, then known primarily for club music, set the verses to a smoother, danceable beat. The single was thus aimed more at European clubs and radio than at hip-hop purists. No reliable chart placement could be found for this release.
On the British CD editions, the original version forms the final track; on the edition shown here, it is missing. With entirely new production, the song was released in 2003 as Runnin' (Dying to Live).
Five Remixes, the Original Only in the UK
The version shown here contains five remixes and no original. Discogs lists this exact tracklist, for instance, for a South African CD. The British CD (BJAM 9005A) additionally includes the original version as a sixth track.
The single is sometimes attributed to the album One Million Strong Soundtrack. However, One Million Strong is a compilation, not a film soundtrack.
