Snoop Dogg's Death Row Deal Without Tupac's Albums

Snoop Dogg takes over Death Row, but Tupac's classics are missing from the catalog: The 1996 albums sit with Interscope. Now Snoop hopes for a deal.

Two weeks after Snoop Dogg’s purchase of Death Row, Billboard reported that the catalog acquisition was not yet finalized and would likely not include the biggest titles. Of all releases, Tupac’s two 1996 albums are missing from the package.

The 1996 Albums Missing from the Label Catalog

Tupac’s two 1996 albums, All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, have reportedly not been in the label’s catalog since January 1, 2022. According to streaming service metadata, they are listed under Interscope instead. MNRK and Blackstone did not comment. This carries significant weight: Tupac’s recordings accounted for 25 to 40 percent of Death Row’s activity, and All Eyez On Me was the label’s most successful album in 2021.

Snoop Hopes for a Deal with the Estate

On March 4, Snoop Dogg said in a Tidal interview that Tupac’s masters had returned to Tupac the previous year. He added that he had a good relationship with the estate and was certain that an arrangement could be worked out to continue Tupac business under the Death Row banner. The reports did not mention an agreement.

On the albums: All Eyez On Me, The Don Killuminati.
