Possible Connection to Combs: Tupac's Family Hires Attorney Alex Spiro

Tupac's family hires attorney Alex Spiro to examine whether Sean Combs was involved in the murder. Evidence is lacking; Combs denies any involvement.

Tupac Shakur’s family is bringing in its own investigators: it has hired New York attorney Alex Spiro and an investigative team to look into possible connections between Sean “Diddy” Combs and Tupac’s death. Billboard and Rolling Stone confirmed this on October 4, 2024. Spiro represents Jay-Z, among others; according to media reports, attorney Christopher Clore is also part of the team.

Davis Claims a Bounty, but Evidence Is Lacking

The catalyst is Davis’s statements that Combs offered one million dollars for a hit. This became known in July from court filings (see the report of July 18). There is no evidence. Las Vegas police stated that Combs was never a suspect; according to media reports, no investigation into him is underway. Combs has denied any involvement.

Arrest in New York, Trial in March 2025

Combs was arrested in New York in September 2024 in an unrelated case and has pleaded not guilty. Mopreme Shakur had also commented on the matter. Davis’s trial was scheduled to begin in March 2025 (see The Investigation).
