Poetry Month 2020: The Estate Seeks Poems
Tupac appreciated Shakespeare and Baldwin. In April 2020, during US Poetry Month, the estate invited fans for the second time to submit their own poems.
Tupac read widely as a youth. He appreciated Shakespeare, Langston Hughes, and James Baldwin. AllHipHop recalled this on April 20, 2020, when the outlet reported on the estate’s second poetry competition. In keeping with US Poetry Month in April, fans could submit their own poems to win a merchandise bundle inspired by Tupac’s poetry. According to the report, the competition had already been running since early April, but entries remained open.
A Collection for 25 to 65 Dollars
Alongside this, the estate sold a poetry collection on shop.2pac.com from April 8 to April 30. Prices ranged between 25 and 65 dollars. The first edition of the competition had taken place the previous year.
Poems for Young People
A portion of Tupac’s early writings was published after his death in the volume The Rose That Grew From Concrete. The author of the AllHipHop report recommended this collection especially to young people. A selection of the poems can be found in our poetry section.
