Mike Tyson: Tupac's murder was "planned in advance"

In a 2020 livestream with Fat Joe, Mike Tyson said the attack on Tupac was planned in advance. He offered no evidence for his theory.

On September 7, 1996, Tupac and Suge Knight attended Mike Tyson’s fight against Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand before they were shot. In spring 2020, the former boxing world champion offered his own interpretation of the night of the crime for the first time during a livestream with rapper Fat Joe.

The Opportunity in Las Vegas

“I never said this, but all that stuff was planned in advance,” Tyson said in the conversation, which The Source reported on March 30 and NME on April 1. His fight was the opportunity: everyone knew who was coming, and those who were not there knew who would be there. He called Tupac an “uncontrollable force” that no one could tame.

Spontaneous Retaliation According to the Indictment

That is a personal belief, not evidence. The case was reopened in 2023 with an indictment against Duane “Keffe D” Davis; according to the prosecution, the attack was a spontaneous act of retaliation for the brawl at the MGM Grand (Shooting 1996).
