From Oscar Record to “Poetic Justice”
With his debut Boyz n the Hood (1991), Singleton was the first African American and, at 24, the youngest person to be nominated for the Best Director Oscar. For Tupac, he became a key figure: in Poetic Justice (1993), Tupac played postal worker Lucky alongside Janet Jackson. The role cemented his reputation as an actor. A soundtrack was also released for the film.
