USA Network Orders 'Unsolved' to Series

A strong screening tipped the scales: On May 15, 2017, USA Network ordered Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. to series, as Billboard reported, citing The Hollywood Reporter. The network had commissioned the pilot the previous November.

An LAPD Detective Provides the Source Material

The series chronicles the two police investigations into the murders of Tupac (1996 in Las Vegas) and Christopher Wallace (1997 in Los Angeles). It is based on the experiences of former LAPD detective Greg Kading: He led several task forces on the cases and wrote the book Murder Rap. Kading consulted on the pilot script and serves as co-executive producer of the series.

The series aired in 2018 (see Launch in February 2018). The status of the real-world investigations is described in Investigations.
