Report: Jimmy Henchman allegedly admitted involvement in the 1994 attack

Did Jimmy Henchman admit the Quad Studios attack? The Village Voice reported it in 2012, citing transcripts; his lawyer denied it.

In late June 2012 an old case was back in the headlines. Citing an article by Chuck Philips in the Village Voice, media reported that James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond had admitted to prosecutors some involvement in the attack on Tupac at New York’s Quad Recording Studio (1994 shooting).

Proffer sessions after a conviction

On June 5, 2012, Rosemond had been convicted in a drug case in Brooklyn, as the leader of a criminal enterprise according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Philips relied on transcripts of so-called proffer sessions from the previous year, in which Rosemond was reportedly seeking a cooperation deal.

Old accusations, a categorical denial

Tupac had named Rosemond in the song “Against All Odds”; in 2011 the inmate Dexter Isaac claimed Rosemond paid him for the attack. Rosemond’s lawyer Gerald Shargel “categorically” denied any confession.

According to Rolling Stone, the statute of limitations has expired and no one will be charged. Philips’ 2008 Los Angeles Times story had been retracted.
