Suge Knight Arrested for Parole Violation

A good 16 months after his release, Suge Knight is back in custody. As the Associated Press reported on December 24, 2002, the label head was arrested on Monday after appearing before his parole officer. Authorities accused him of violating his conditions by associating with alleged gang members.

Result of the November Searches

Investigators had come across the possible violations following the November 14 search. At that time, sheriff’s deputies had searched Knight’s home in Malibu and the offices of his label Tha Row in Beverly Hills, in connection with two unsolved homicides. Knight was not considered a suspect.

His attorney David Chesnoff rejected the allegations. Knight had done nothing since his release other than obey the law and work hard. Contacts with gang members were related to his work as a record label boss. Knight was released on parole in August 2001, after five years in prison for the brawl at a Las Vegas hotel in September 1996, hours before the fatal shooting of Tupac (report on his release).
