The 29 tracks were previously unreleased. According to XXL, Tupac’s vocals date from 1995 and 1996, that is, from his time at Death Row. XXL names Afeni Shakur, Suge Knight, and Johnny “J” as executive producers. Guests include K-Ci & JoJo, Big Syke, and the Outlawz. The title single draws on Broken Wings by the band Mr. Mister, followed by Letter 2 My Unborn as the second single. According to AllHipHop, the album was the first of two planned double albums from the Death Row archive.
Top of the Charts, Panned on laut.de
On laut.de, the work fared poorly. The music was “as dead as 2Pac himself,” Stefan Johannesberg judged, and the beats were second-rate. The success remained: in 2014, the RIAA certified the album quadruple platinum.
