Poems Set to Music: The Choice Fell on Track 12
To stay as current as possible, the choice fell on “When Ur Hero Falls” from the album The Rose, Vol. 2. The album was released on September 20, 2005, by Amaru Entertainment and is the second collection in which other artists set Tupac’s poems to music, quote them, or use them as a starting point. The first was The Rose That Grew from Concrete (2000). Vol. 2 features Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Talib Kweli, Ludacris, Lyfe Jennings, the Outlawz, Dead Prez, and Shock G, among others, with Tupac’s poems read by children at the end.
“When Ur Hero Falls” is track 12 and was recorded by the Impact Kids featuring Jessica “Betty Jo” Santos. The post also announced a download section.
The Album Remained a Footnote, the Video Is Offline
The Rose, Vol. 2 remained a footnote in Tupac’s posthumous discography. Critical reception was lukewarm; AllMusic, for example, awarded two out of five stars. More on the album in the discography.
When checked in October 2026, the fan video could no longer be accessed publicly at the old YouTube address. Whether a copy still exists remains an open question.
