Tupac-Resurrection.de Goes Online
A tribute to the Oscar-nominated documentary: On April 29, 2006, fan project Tupac-Resurrection.de went online, complete with a forum and music video plans.
Archive note: On April 29, 2006, the site announced another project: with Tupac-Resurrection.de, a new website went online. Much like Thugangel.de, announced on the same day, the site was conceived as a thank-you to Tupac and to the makers of the documentary Tupac: Resurrection.
Visitors were invited to share their opinions on the new projects in the forum. At the same time, the author announced a music video of his own in Tupac’s honor, at the time still without a release date.
Tupac’s Own Words: From the Sundance Festival to an Oscar Nomination
Tupac: Resurrection, directed by Lauren Lazin, tells Tupac’s life almost exclusively in his own words, assembled from interviews and archival footage. The film was produced by MTV Films and Amaru Entertainment, the company run by Afeni Shakur.
It celebrated its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2003 and arrived in US theaters on November 14, 2003. On a budget of around $300,000, the documentary grossed approximately $7.8 million. At the 2005 Academy Awards, Tupac: Resurrection was nominated for Best Documentary Feature. More on this in the filmography.
From Active Portal to Placeholder Page: The End of the Domain in 2016
Archived records show Tupac-Resurrection.de online as early as 2004. In October 2006, the homepage advertised with “Everything about Tupac’s last dream.” In March 2011, the site was still online, now featuring an intro and sections for news, downloads, and links. By March 2016, only a web host’s placeholder page remained at the domain; after that, it was no longer accessible.
The announced music video was released a few months later: When Ur Hero Falls.
