Three former police officers, lost files, and a silent defendant: Duane Davis's defense rests after less than two hours.
It took less than two hours: on August 27, 2026, the defense of Duane “Keffe D” Davis rested its case. It called three former Las Vegas police officers.
A Light-Colored Cadillac at Knight’s and Lost Files
One said he saw a light-colored Cadillac drive away from Suge Knight’s property on the night of the crime: an indication that the getaway car could have come from Knight’s circle. Another had to answer questions about the quality of police work; files were later lost. A former detective said he would have arrested Davis in 2009; according to the Rolling Stone report, he was told to stand down.
Davis Does Not Testify
Davis himself did not take the stand; this is common for defendants, as they would otherwise face cross-examination. Closing arguments were set for Monday, August 31. The verdict came on Monday. More under The Investigation.
