Trial of "Keffe D": Unedited Footage and a Recording from the Cell

Hours of raw footage, a gang expert on the witness stand, and a line from the cell: The second week of the trial against Duane "Keffe D" Davis.

In the second week of the trial, starting August 24, 2026, the prosecution presented further recordings of Duane “Keffe D” Davis. Filmmaker Michael Dorsey, who had worked on the BET docuseries about Davis’s role, presented hours of unedited footage to the jury. In it, Davis refuses to apologize to Tupac’s family. Already in the first week, the jurors had seen an early public interview from which Rolling Stone quoted: “I got cancer … nothing else to lose.”

No Shot Without the Uncle’s Permission

Police officer Robert Ladd testified that Davis was a “shot caller” in his Compton gang, an order-giver: Anderson was not allowed to shoot without his uncle’s permission. To conclude, the prosecution played a recording of a 2023 jail phone call: “I got blood on my money.”

The defense, by contrast, portrays Davis’s appearances as money-making and bragging. Billboard summarized the week in a recap. Foundations: The investigation.
