Davis trial: Detective recounts 2008 claim about Sean Combs
At Duane Davis' trial, a former detective recounts 2008 claims about Sean Combs. This is not proof; Combs was never charged.
At the trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, former LAPD Detective Daryn Dupree took the witness stand on August 19, 2026. He recounted in court that Davis had claimed to investigators in 2008 that Sean “Puffy” Combs was tied to money intended for the killing of Tupac and Suge Knight.
The plan in New York failed
According to Dupree, Davis said Combs “was supposed to give money to Zip Martin so he could pass it on to Davis.” Investigators traveled with Davis to New York to renew contact with Martin. The plan failed because Martin was ill and no longer in the business.
Third-party statement, not proof
This is a third party relaying a claim by Davis, not proof. Combs has denied any involvement for years and was never charged in the Shakur case; nor does the prosecution at the trial make any allegation against him.
When questioned by the prosecutor, Dupree said the LAPD found no police involvement in the Biggie case. Davis himself recanted the statement in an interview after the verdict; see the report of September 5.
