Davis' Lawyers Petition the Nevada Supreme Court
Citing protected statements: Duane Davis' defense seeks to overturn the murder charge over Tupac Shakur's death before the Nevada Supreme Court.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis is fighting the murder charge over Tupac’s death: On July 29, 2025, his lawyers filed a petition with the Nevada Supreme Court to overturn the lower court’s decision. In January, the judge had denied the motion to dismiss the charges.
No Evidence Outside Protected Statements
The defense accuses the district court of failing to examine whether the state has any admissible evidence at all outside the statements that were allegedly protected under proffer agreements since 1998: they prohibit their use in court.
Attorney Carl Arnold wrote that Davis had cooperated with authorities for more than ten years and relied on assurances. The fact that these statements now form the core of the indictment clearly violates the right to a fair trial, he argued. Prosecutors see it differently. More on this in The investigation.
