A black-and-white photograph of The Notorious B.I.G. by Chi Modu and a picture of Tupac in a bandana and jersey by Dana Lixenberg: in 2018, both shots formed the cover image of a web article about the USA Network series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.. Broadcaster Univision allegedly used the photos without permission, according to the allegation. On May 14, 2025, the estate of photographer Chi Modu and photographer Dana Lixenberg filed a joint lawsuit against the network.
Univision Did Not Respond to the Demand
According to the attorneys, Univision had not adequately responded to a demand to remove the images. There is no ruling, and the broadcaster had not initially commented.
Trade publication Billboard places the case in a series of legal disputes over the image and publicity rights of the two rappers. For the background of the series, see Legal cases.
