Reservoir Acquires Catalog of Tupac Producer Deon "Big D" Evans

Whether “Brenda’s Got a Baby” or the Grammy-nominated “Changes”: above all, it was his work with Tupac Shakur that made Deon “Big D” Evans known. In May 2024, music company Reservoir Media acquired the producer shares and publishing catalog of the late hip-hop producer and songwriter. Billboard reported this in a publishing roundup on May 23.

Tupac’s Catalog Remains Untouched

According to Billboard, Evans shaped the sound of hip-hop during those years. He also worked with Digital Underground and Ne-Yo. The report gave no details on the purchase price.

Nothing changes for Tupac’s catalog as a result of the purchase: it concerns Evans’s own shares as producer and publisher. That investors buy such catalogs shows the enduring value of Tupac’s songs and the contributions of his collaborators.
