“Real N***as”: Unreleased Nas Song Aimed at Tupac Surfaces
An unreleased song from around It Was Written (1996): on “Real N***as,” Nas targets Tupac-even though their feud was settled before Tupac’s death.
In July 2021, a recording surfaced online that reopened an old chapter: a previously unreleased song by Nas aimed at Tupac. “Real N***as” apparently dates from around the time of the album It Was Written (1996). In it, Nas references Tupac’s image and rise; according to Vibe, it marks the first time fans hear him on record going after the late rapper. Where the recording came from is not mentioned in the reports.
Attacked During His Lifetime, Reconciled Before Death
Tupac, by contrast, had already attacked Nas during his lifetime, specifically by name in the song “Against All Odds” on The Don Killuminati (1996). According to Vibe, the two had settled their dispute before Tupac’s death.
On July 28, Musikexpress and Rolling Stone Germany also picked up the report, noting that Nas was releasing a new album on August 6. The backstory of the conflict is told on the page about Nas.
