"7 Dayz": Gobi Rahimi Raises Funds for Tupac Film

He directed the videos for “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” and says he was with Tupac when he was shot: In May 2015, director Gobi M. Rahimi launched a crowdfunding campaign for the feature film 7 Dayz. On the Indiegogo page, he set a goal of $300,000 so the film would not become “another watered down Hollywood film.”

Not a Documentary, but the Days at the Bedside

During the week Tupac lay in a coma, he stood guard at the hospital, Rahimi reports. “This isn’t a documentary,” he said in the campaign video; it is about his week at the bedside. According to Rahimi, the script is based on his own experiences and is intended to use previously unreleased footage that he filmed weeks before Tupac’s death. Preston L. Holmes, who had worked on Juice and Gridlock’d, is named as producer.

This is the director’s account. The reports by Rolling Stone, Vibe, and AllHipHop also rely on his campaign, not on independent evidence.
