National Geographic Looks Back at Tupac's Death
The 2014 documentary "The '90s: The Last Great Decade?" has eyewitnesses like Gobi Rahimi look back on the shooting and the anxious hospital vigil.
Guns in their cars and fear that the shooters might return: after the shots fired at Tupac, his companions took shifts standing guard at the hospital. In early July 2014, Rolling Stone and rap.de announced a National Geographic documentary covering Tupac’s death.
Three Parts, Three Eyewitnesses
The series “The ’90s: The Last Great Decade?” spans three parts of two hours each. According to rap.de, it aired from July 6 to July 8 starting at 9 p.m. U.S. time. The Tupac segment draws on host Arsenio Hall, director Gobi Rahimi, and Malcolm Greenridge from the group Outlawz.
Tension at Club 662
Rahimi was there on the night of the murder. He describes Club 662, which belonged to Suge Knight, as tense, with “questionable characters.” The accounts from the hospital are personal recollections, not new investigative findings. The timeline of those days is described in Tupac’s last week; on the case: investigation.
