Kickstarter Campaign for Tupac's Screenplay "Live 2 Tell"

$250,000 via Kickstarter: How NStar Studios tried in 2012 to bring Tupac's only screenplay, "Live 2 Tell", from prison to the big screen.

It remained the only screenplay Tupac ever wrote: in 1995, he wrote Live 2 Tell during his incarceration at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York. On November 20, 2012, NStar Studios launched a Kickstarter campaign for the film adaptation.

$250,000 for Pre-Production

NStar Studios had acquired the rights and had previously worked with Afeni Shakur on Tupac: Resurrection. The goal was $250,000 in 30 days. The money was intended to pay for development and pre-production: casting, legal costs, and a writer to revise the script for shooting.

Scott Wants Out, Tupac Wanted the Lead Role

The plot revolves around Scott, a teenage drug lord who wants to get out of the criminal life and has to bear the consequences of his past. According to Atlanta Black Star, Tupac himself wanted to play the lead role. Vibe asked whether Kendrick Lamar could take on the role.

It was not planned as a biopic, but as original Tupac material. How the campaign ended is not evident from the reviewed sources.
