Tupac's Screenplay "Live 2 Tell" Set to Be Adapted into a Film

Written in prison in 1995, filmed for eleven million dollars? In May 2011, Afeni Shakur and NStar Studios announced "Live 2 Tell" for 2012.

During his imprisonment in 1995, Tupac wrote a screenplay: Live 2 Tell tells the story of a young drug dealer who gets pulled deeper and deeper into a life of crime. In May 2011, Complex reported that it was to be made into a film.

The Team from “Tupac: Resurrection”

Behind the project were Afeni Shakur, the company NStar Studios and the production team that made the documentary Tupac: Resurrection in 2003. Dwight Williams was also set to join. Budgeted at eleven million dollars, filming was scheduled for 2012. No actors were known yet.

The project ran parallel to the major feature film about Tupac’s life that Morgan Creek was pushing forward that same year. Unlike that film, Live 2 Tell was not intended to tell Tupac’s biography, but rather a story he had invented himself.

By the end of 2012, the film had not yet been shot: in November, NStar Studios launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for pre-production. More about Tupac’s time behind bars can be found under Clinton Imprisonment 1995.
