In Springfield Gardens, Queens, a memorial event held by the anti-violence team I Love My LIFE VIP commemorated a lesser-known chapter: “The Code,” an initiative that Tupac had founded in 1994 with his stepfather Mutulu Shakur and activist Erica Ford. It was intended to keep young people out of prison and curb violence among Black people. According to AllHipHop, Ford led the foundation behind “The Code” from 1994 to 2002, beyond Tupac’s death.
On the same day, the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Washington displayed Tupac and Biggie side by side for the first time.
