Tupac's Screenplay "Live 2 Tell" to Be Adapted into a Film
A kid from the housing projects turns drug kingpin and gets out: In September 2005, Insomnia Media announced a film adaptation of Tupac's screenplay.
In addition to songs and poems, Tupac also left behind a screenplay. On September 27, 2005, the producer of the project announced that “Live 2 Tell” was being developed as a feature film. Filming was scheduled to begin in March 2006.
The Role He Wrote for Himself
Tupac wrote the screenplay in 1995 as a starring role for himself. It tells the story of a Black youth from a housing project who rises to become a drug kingpin and then changes his life. The company Insomnia Media Group acquired the rights from Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur. She was to produce the film together with Preston Holmes, who had been involved as a co-producer on Hustle & Flow.
Remembering His Film Roles
Billboard recalled that Tupac had also left his mark in cinema, with roles in Juice, Poetic Justice, Above the Rim, Gridlock’d, and Gang Related. In addition, he had been the subject of two documentary films, Biggie & Tupac and Tupac: Resurrection.
How the project continued is shown in a report from 2012: Kickstarter Campaign for “Live 2 Tell”.
