ASCAP Honors Easy Mo Bee for "Runnin'" with Tupac and Biggie
In 2005, producer Easy Mo Bee received an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award for "Runnin'", which Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. had recorded together.
A song on which Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. can still be heard as partners earned its producer an award in the summer of 2005. As AllHipHop reported on June 30, Easy Mo Bee received an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award for “Runnin’ (Dyin’ to Live)” in the Soundtrack Song of the Year category. According to the report, it was already the second award from the performing rights organization ASCAP for the producer.
A Track with a Long History
The track first appeared in 1995 on the compilation “One Million Strong” for the Million Man March. Eminem later reworked it for the soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated documentary “Tupac: Resurrection”. Easy Mo Bee said that just having the opportunity to experience the two together in the studio was reward enough. He said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and “history in the making”.
Poems as Music
In the same conversation, he spoke about his next Tupac project. He was working on an album based on Tupac’s poetry collection “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”. According to his words, it was scheduled for release in September 2005 on Amaru and Koch Records.
