Suge Knight Wants to Write Memoirs, Tha Row Plans New Tupac Double Album
In June 2002, Suge Knight shopped his memoirs to publishers, also covering Tupac. His label Tha Row announced a new Tupac double album via Koch.
Suge Knight wants to tell his story himself. As AllHipHop reported on June 10, 2002, the Death Row founder offered his memoirs to publishers through the Acme Literary and Talent agency. They were set to cover his relationships with Tupac, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, his imprisonment for probation violations, and how he brought Death Row to the top of the industry. Knight told the trade publication Variety that he owed it to the public and the fans “to hear the truth.”

In parallel, Knight’s label, which was by then called Tha Row, signed a distribution deal with Koch Records. Planned were a debut album by rapper Crooked I and a new double album featuring recordings by Tupac. Death Row had already announced two double albums from its archives back in 2001, the first of which was Until the End of Time.
In July 2002, publisher Riverhead Books secured the rights to Knight’s book and announced a hardcover edition for 2003. It was also set to cover the deaths of Tupac and Biggie. Knight explained that young people should learn “how terrible prison is.”
