Snoop Dogg Attacks Death Row and Speaks on Tupac
In an unreleased song in March 2000, Snoop Dogg accused Suge Knight of dragging Tupac into things he did not understand.
On March 12, 2000, AllHipHop reported on an unreleased song in which Snoop Dogg attacked his former label Death Row Records and its head Suge Knight. According to the site, the track originated from snoopsdogghouse.com; Goldie Loc possibly rapped on it as well.
Tupac “in the Middle”
In the second verse, Snoop addressed Tupac. In essence, he accused Knight of dragging his friend into a world of real gangsters without Tupac knowing what he was getting into. In the end, Tupac was caught between the fronts while Knight helped himself to his earnings. The picture Snoop painted of Tupac’s final months at Death Row: a friend who got caught up in disputes that were not his own. The song contained no evidence of any responsibility by Knight for Tupac’s death; it was a diss track, not courtroom testimony.
An Announced Departure
According to AllHipHop, No Limit Records had bought Snoop’s contract from Death Row for an estimated 700,000 dollars, and he had been signed to Master P ever since. Following this deal, one album remained pending, The Last Meal, announced for spring 2000. The song itself concluded with the name of his own label, Dogghouse Records.
