MC Hammer Announces Album with Unreleased Tupac Recordings
In April 1999, MC Hammer announced his album War Chest: Turn of the Century, featuring tracks recorded with Tupac and a new version of Unconditional Love.
MC Hammer wants to release unreleased recordings with Tupac. In April 1999, the rapper told the MTV Radio Network that his new album War Chest: Turn of the Century would feature tracks he had recorded with Tupac. MTV News reported this on April 21. In addition, there is his own version of Unconditional Love, which had appeared on Tupac’s Greatest Hits.
Back to the Old Name
Hammer was once again going by MC Hammer, as in the days of U Can’t Touch This. A year earlier, he had been forced to shelve another album, Family Affair, on his own label Oaktown 3.5.7. For War Chest, he said he was close to signing a deal with another company, with the record slated for release in the summer. Musically, he promised a blend of dance music and reflection: listeners should nod their heads, hit the dance floor, and become a better person in the process. He planned That’s How I Feel as the first single.
Not Yet in Stores
In September 1999, MTV News still listed the collaboration with Hammer among the Tupac recordings that were yet to be released. More on the joint recordings of the two: Lost Tupac song for MC Hammer surfaces.
