Makaveli Branded: A Dedicated Online Store for Germany

In January 2007, Makaveli Branded launched its German store with fashion for men and women. A few years later, the brand had vanished again.

On January 24, 2007, the site announced the launch: the fashion label Makaveli Branded went live with an official online store for Germany. The name drew on Tupac’s alias Makaveli, under which the album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was released in 1996.

From Jackets to Socks: Women’s Fashion for the First Time

According to the post at the time, the selection ranged from jackets, shoes, shirts, and hoodies to suits, jeans, and socks. For the first time in Germany, fashion for women was also available. An archived snapshot of the website makaveli-store.com from January 2007 confirms the basic structure: a multilingual store with sections for men, women, and boys, accessories, an outlet, and retailer access. In addition, the shop advertised downloads and collaborations, such as with rappers Twista and Chamillionaire. The footer bore the notice “Kombinat Berlin 2007.”

The author of the report found the prices excessive, as with almost all hip-hop fashion, and advised fans not to spend all their allowance on brand names.

First a Music Player, Then Third-Party Plus Sizes

The German store lasted a few years. An archived snapshot from February 2010 still shows it with a similar setup, now with a music player and Tupac downloads. By February 2015 at the latest, the address makaveli-store.com belonged to an entirely different offering: plus-size clothing from outside brands was listed under the domain, and Makaveli Branded had vanished.

Today, Tupac merchandise is primarily sold through the store on the official website 2pac.com. On the handling of Tupac’s name, see also the post about the relaunch of 2pac.com from 2011.
