First Single from Pac's Life: Swizz Beatz and Bone Thugs
A single with Bone Thugs and Swizz Beatz: In September 2006, the site announced the new 2Pac album. But the track had long been circulating as a promo.
A song featuring Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, produced by Swizz Beatz: on September 28, 2006, the site announced the first single from the upcoming 2Pac album. The post cited an interview with a Rick Edwards, who also named November 6, 2006, or early 2007 as the release date. Exactly who Edwards was, the post left open.
Recorded Before the Makaveli Sessions, Recast in 2005
Behind the report was the song “Untouchable.” Tupac had recorded it in June 1996, shortly before the sessions for the album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which was released under the name Makaveli a few weeks after his death. The original version was never officially released. Swizz Beatz turned it into a remix: Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony recorded a new verse in 2005, replacing the original guests.
Long in Circulation as a Promo, “Pac’s Life” Arrived as the Single
The details were accurate in substance, only the sequence of events was different. The Swizz Beatz remix of “Untouchable” featuring Krayzie Bone had already been circulating as a promo single since February 2006-months before the report. There was no official music video for it.
As the first regular single, the title track “Pac’s Life” featuring T.I. and Ashanti, produced by L.T. Hutton, was released on October 21, 2006. The album itself came out neither on November 6 nor in early 2007, but on November 21, 2006. “Untouchable (Swizz Beatz Remix)” opened the tracklist. Pac’s Life reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200.
A third single, “Playa Cardz Right,” did not follow until October 2008, two years after the album. What other rumors were circulating in those weeks is documented in the reports New Album Details and Tupac’s New Album Pac’s Life.
