First Interview After Conviction: Davis Maintains His Innocence

Never read the book, did interviews for the money: Duane “Keffe D” Davis maintains his innocence after the verdict and recants claims against Combs.

From the Las Vegas jail, Duane “Keffe D” Davis spoke out for the first time since his conviction. On September 5, 2026, The Hollywood Reporter published the first interview after the verdict. In it, Davis maintained: “I’m innocent” and “I’m getting out on an appeal.”

Never Read the Book, Interviews for the Money

He claimed he never wrote or read his book Compton Street Legend; the author had merely asked him for ten stories and photos. He said he did his interview appearances “to make money.” Witnesses, FBI agents, police officers, and prosecutors had lied about him.

Allegations Against Combs Fabricated, Not a Word to Tupac’s Family

Asked why he did not testify, he replied that his lawyer had warned him it would hurt the appeal. According to The Source and AllHipHop, Davis retracted his earlier claim that Sean Combs had put up money for the murder; he had made it up. He declined to address Tupac’s family.

All of these are statements by a convicted man that the court has not examined. The conviction is not final.
