Tupac Murder Trial: The Jury Is Seated
After three days of selection, the jury in the murder trial of Keffe D is seated: twelve jurors, four alternates. Opening statements begin Monday, August 17.
Outside the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, journalists, fans, podcasters, and people describing themselves as Tupac’s relatives gathered. One cousin spoke of the “culmination of 30 years of trauma, anger and grief.” Inside, the trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis began on August 10, 2026, starting with jury selection.
After Three Days, the Jury Is Seated
On August 13, the jury was complete: twelve jurors and four alternates, women and men. Selection had taken three days. Among them were at least one Black juror, at least one true-crime fan, and several who were familiar with Tupac.
Judge Carli Kierny instructed the jury not to do research and not to visit locations associated with the case; marshals were to pick them up in an underground parking garage. The charge was murder with use of a deadly weapon. Davis denies the crime.
