Tupac at Target: An AI Video Sparks Outrage

A deceptively real video shows Tupac shopping at Target. Fans react with outrage as media debate digital resurrection and image rights.

A red basket, a cereal aisle, a fan asking for a selfie: in early October 2025, an AI-generated video circulated, seemingly showing Tupac shopping at the US supermarket Target. The portal The Neighborhood Talk shared the clip. It looked so realistic that some users were momentarily unsettled.

Online reactions were predominantly critical. Users called the depiction disrespectful and disturbing, while others worried about the misuse of AI in real crimes. Musikexpress reported on the stir. The Source placed the case within the debate over digital resurrection and the question of who may consent to the use of a deceased person’s voice and likeness.

Whether the clip infringes rights remains open. Further disputes over Tupac’s catalog and likeness can be found under Legal cases.
