Drake Takes “Taylor Made Freestyle” Offline After Lawsuit Threat
Following the estate's lawsuit threat, Drake takes the track with AI Tupac offline. Neither his representatives nor the estate comment to Billboard.
The track was to be deleted within 24 hours, or a lawsuit was threatened: One day after the letter from Tupac’s estate, Drake removed “Taylor Made Freestyle” from his social media accounts. Billboard reported on April 25, 2024, that the song was no longer available. Neither Drake’s representatives nor the estate would comment to Billboard.
AI Voices in the Feud with Kendrick Lamar
In addition to the AI voice of Tupac, the song had also featured a simulated voice of Snoop Dogg. It was part of the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which Lamar’s guest verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” had triggered.
No Lawsuit Followed, but Criticism Did
A lawsuit did not materialize. Criticism of the move did not let up, however: In June, singer Sheryl Crow called the use “hateful,” see the report from June 26.
