1995 Prison ID and Wanted Photo Go Under the Hammer

Wanted photo and replacement prison ID: Moments in Time auctions two items from Tupac's 1995 prison term. Estimated price: up to $75,000.

On February 28, 1995, Tupac was wanted because he was due to appear in court in the proceedings concerning the sexual abuse allegation and subsequently go to prison. In late October 2023, two previously unknown keepsakes from this time in prison were offered for auction: the wanted photo from that day and his prison ID.

A Replacement for the Lost ID

The ID comes from the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York State. It shows a photo of the inmate, name, number, height, as well as eye and hair color. According to the accompanying papers, the ID is a replacement because Tupac had lost the first one. On a form, he wrote by hand: “I lost my ID card and need a new one. Thank you.” This form is also meant to be included.

Up to $75,000 Expected

The auction site “Moments in Time” listed no prices; according to TMZ, the photo could fetch around $35,000, and the ID around $75,000. The original ID had already been auctioned in 2019. The background on his time in prison and the legal proceedings behind it is compiled in Tupac’s legal cases.
