"Politicians are hypocrites": Tupac's Estate Urges People to Vote
Shortly before the 2020 US election, Tupac's estate urged people to vote using a line from "Me Against the World" and the word "VOTE".
“Politicians are hypocrites, they don’t wanna listen”: With this line, Tupac’s estate urged people to vote just days before the US presidential election on November 3, 2020. An excerpt from the song “Me Against the World” from the 1995 album of the same name (Me Against the World) appeared on the official social media accounts, featuring the quote and the word “VOTE”. NME reported on October 29.
The Twitter Link Leads to whenweallvote.org
The link in Tupac’s Twitter profile led directly to whenweallvote.org. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2018 by Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Janelle Monáe, among others, and encourages people to vote.
Between the Harris Debate and the Estate Trust
NME placed the initiative in the context of the debate surrounding Kamala Harris and the “ticket for Tupac”. The estate is administered by the trust of Afeni Shakur; the magazine does not quote any statement explaining its motives. The move shows how the official accounts use Tupac as a political voice.
