Matoma Gives Away Remix of “So Many Tears”
A text message was all it took: Ahead of his 2019 tour, Norwegian producer Matoma gave away a bootleg remix of Tupac's “So Many Tears”.
A text message was all it took: Shortly before the start of his 2019 tour, Norwegian producer Matoma released a new version of Tupac’s So Many Tears. Billboard reported it on January 18. The track originally comes from the 1995 album Me Against the World.
Two Classics as a Fan Gift
Matoma had made a name for himself with bootleg remixes of nineties hip-hop classics, including “Old Thing Back,” his rework of The Notorious B.I.G.’s One More Chance. He bundled the Tupac remix with a new version of “Party We Will Throw Now!” (Warren G, Nate Dogg, The Game) as a gift to fans: anyone who signed up via text message received both tracks for free.
No Release on Streaming Services
Matoma told Billboard that the energy and flow of the old-school rappers had always inspired him. The remixes were a taste of further work in this vein. The report did not mention a regular release on streaming services.
