Eminem's “Killshot” and the Old Rumor About Diddy

A line in Eminem's diss track “Killshot” linked Sean Combs to Tupac's death in 2018. An old rumor without proof that sparked reactions.

On September 14, 2018, Eminem released his diss track “Killshot” aimed at Machine Gun Kelly. A line near the end drew particular attention. In it, Eminem raps: if Kelly puts out a hit, that would be the day Diddy admits he put out the hit that cost “Pac” his life. Immediately afterward, he adds that he is only joking and that he likes Diddy. The line picks up on an old rumor that Vibe describes as circulating “for years” and without proof.

Backlash on Twitter

That same day, Jay Electronica, a friend of Combs, reacted. On Twitter, he accused Eminem of blaming Diddy instead of talking about Jimmy Iovine. The latter, he argued, had profited most from Tupac’s death.

“In My Hands”

On September 19, Joe Budden recounted on his podcast that Combs had told him the matter was “in my hands.” Musikexpress and Billboard reported this. The sources reviewed cite no statement from Combs himself. On the rumors, see theories.
