Wrong Photo in TV Special: Los Angeles County Sheriff Demands Apology from Fox
A commander in the wrong murder case: Why the Los Angeles County sheriff demanded an immediate apology from Fox after the TV special.
Two days after the broadcast of Who Shot Biggie & Tupac? (see announcement), sharp protest came from Los Angeles: According to Billboard, the Los Angeles County sheriff demanded an immediate public apology and a retraction from Fox. The special had shown a photo of Commander Steven D. Katz, thereby creating the impression that the Sheriff’s Department and Katz were involved in the investigation into the murder of Christopher Wallace.
Neither Katz nor the Department Investigated
According to the department, this was false and defamatory: Katz was shown multiple times with his name badge and department logo, accompanied by on-screen graphics suggesting “disgrace and outrage” over the handling of the case. The reviewed reports do not mention a response from Fox. How the real investigations unfolded in both cases is shown in the overview under investigations.
