Audio Engineer Tommy D Crowdfunds 'The Makaveli Book' on Kickstarter
He manned the boards for Makaveli and stayed until the end: Tommy D is crowdfunding a book on Kickstarter about his time at Death Row.
During the sessions for The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, Tommy “D” Daugherty was at the mixing console as chief engineer. In July 2017, he launched a Kickstarter campaign for a book about his time at Death Row Records.
Stories Missing from the Film
Together with author Ben Leinen, he wants to share stories from the studios that are missing from the film All Eyez on Me. According to The Source, Daugherty said he was at Death Row from beginning to end. The book is also expected to touch on recordings by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Prince, and Michael Jackson.
Never Paid for ‘The Don Killuminati’
According to Leinen on the campaign page, Daugherty was never paid for his work on The Don Killuminati. He reportedly worked for the label until 2007 as the last original member. The project relies on statements by those involved; the reports show no proof for them. Whether and when the book was published is not evident from the sources reviewed.
