Release Date for 'All Eyez on Me': June 16, 2017

After years of delays, the date is set: on June 16, the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me arrives in theaters. It is the day Tupac would have turned 46. As Billboard reported on January 17, 2017, Lionsgate subsidiary Summit Entertainment acquired the US rights to the film from Morgan Creek Entertainment.

From Poet and Activist to Death Row

Benny Boom directs, with newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. taking on the lead role. Alongside him, the cast includes Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Dominic Santana, Jamal Woolard, Keith Robinson, Lauren Cohan, and Hill Harper. The film follows Tupac’s rise as a rapper, actor, poet, and activist, his imprisonment, and his controversial period at Death Row Records.

Into the Hall of Fame Ahead of Theatrical Release

Billboard also noted that Tupac was scheduled to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7, a good two months before the theatrical release.

More on the film is documented on the page All Eyez on Me (feature film, 2017).
