Tupac Biopic: Filming Start Announced for Spring 2014
Reception in Santa Monica, filming starts in spring 2014: Producer Randall Emmett announces the film, but director and lead role remain open.
A reception at Zanzibar in Santa Monica brought the news: production companies Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films had invited friends and supporters of Tupac the Thursday before. There, producer Randall Emmett confirmed that filming begins in spring 2014. On November 12, 2013, Billboard reported the shoot date for the planned Tupac film.
Dispute Settled, Director and Cast Still Open
The film was originally slated to start back in 2011, but a legal dispute between Morgan Creek and Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur held it up. It was settled out of court, and Afeni is now an executive producer. Who would direct and who would play Tupac remained open, according to Billboard. The Source passed along the news on November 14.
