Tyga Releases "Hit 'Em Up" with Tupac Samples and Jadakiss

Across the entire album, there is only a single track featuring two guests. On April 1, 2013, rapper Tyga unveiled this song from his second album Hotel California: titled “Hit ’Em Up”, it unites Jadakiss with a voice assembled from Tupac material. According to Vibe, the album was scheduled to be released on April 9.

Assembled Lines Instead of a Remake of the Original

The title references Tupac’s diss song against Notorious B.I.G., but Complex clarified that it is not a remake of the original. According to Vibe, Tyga samples lines from several Tupac tracks, including “Thug 4 Life”, “Thugs Get Lonely Too”, and “Thug N U Thug N Me”, as well as a line from Petey Pablo’s “So Crazy”.

Vibe called the move daring, while Complex considered the song worth a listen primarily for its element of surprise. The history of the original is covered on the page for “Hit ’Em Up”.
