Estate Moves to Jampol: Afeni Wants to Release the "Entire Body of Work"
Alongside the Doors, now Tupac: Jeffrey Jampol takes over the estate, and Afeni Shakur wants to make the entire body of work accessible to fans.
The estates of the Doors, Janis Joplin, and Otis Redding are already in the hands of Jeffrey Jampol. On February 18, 2013, Tupac Shakur joined them: the estate announced that management was being handed over to Jampol Artist Management. Going forward, the agency will handle licensing, apparel, and further projects surrounding the rapper’s music, films, name, and likeness. Tom Whalley, who once gave Tupac his first record deal, is slated to collaborate on the music projects.
Afeni Shakur Wants to Make the Entire Body of Work Accessible
Afeni Shakur, who heads the estate, called it the family’s responsibility to make Tupac’s entire body of work accessible to the fans. Her son had left behind many unfinished pieces and even more ideas, and she intended to fulfill this task following his blueprints.
Billboard read the announcement as an indication of new material. Musikexpress pointed out that several albums had already appeared posthumously since 1996. How the body of work to date is structured is shown in the discography.
