Live in Cinemas and Clubs: Tupac Foundation Plans Concert Series
Live concerts in cinemas and clubs: In 2013, the Tupac Foundation planned a series with Velocity World Media for new talent to raise funds.
Live concerts in high definition, broadcast to clubs, restaurants, and movie theaters across the United States: with this plan, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) went public. On January 16, 2013, AllHipHop reported that the foundation was developing a concert series together with Velocity World Media.
A Stage for Talent, Money for Stone Mountain
The venture ran under the name “First Spin,” a format created by the partner designed to give emerging artists a stage. The foundation intended to line up current musicians. The series was meant to honor Tupac’s influence on art and culture while raising money for the work of the foundation, which is based in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
A Step Ahead of the Culture
Executive director Vernal Cambridge said Tupac was often a step ahead of the culture; the series likewise aimed to defy conventions. The report does not name which artists would perform. Whether the concert series ever materialized is not revealed by the available sources. More on the foundation: TASF and Stone Mountain.
